Synopsis
Kasongo (Im)Material (2021) explores the forgotten history of people of Arab-Swahili descent in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their trajectory from oppressor to oppressed and the local takeover of their culture and language reflect the tensions and ambivalence of history and heritage. Combining images from excavations with archival material and contemporary footage, an archaeologist and a photographer evoke the emotional impact of what persists from the past into the present.

MOUSSEM STAGES 2024
This documentary is shown as part of the second edition of MOUSSEM STAGES 2024 event, which takes place from October 8 to 12. The annual event serves as a crucial platform for presenting the works arising from the Moussem residency programs.

This summer vzw Kuumba provides a whole host of activities for young people from 11y onwards! 
From 9am to 4pm, you can learn to make music with traditional African musical instruments, Congolese dancing and be creative with language and writing!

This summer, we want to help young people find the right words of Dutch so that they dare to write and speak more. To this end, we are organising a camp with different disciplines during the summer months. The aim is for these young people themselves to become role models and creators for other young people. In this way, we want to make it clear to young people in Brussels that language should not be seen as homework or as a punishment, but also as a hobby!
