Sign up for courses we organise every working year: Dutch, Lingala, Swahili, dance and percussion.

In the week of 3 february our language courses in Lingala, Kikongo, and Swahili will begin.  The course consists of a module of 10 lessons and takes place at Kuumba: Passerstraat 5, 1070 Anderlecht. Want to learn more or register?

Lingala and Kikongo: 22/01/25 from 18:00 to 20:00
Swahili: 24/01/25 from 17:30 to 19:30

To register for a module of 10 lessons, you pay €100. Please transfer this amount to our bank account: IBAN: BE14 7310 5761 9183, mentioning your name and the chosen course (LI/SWA). You will have to fill in this form

Class schedule:

Wednesday [18:30 - 20:30]: Lingala and Swahili level 2
Thursday [17:00 - 19:00]: Lingala for beginners
Thursday [19:15 - 21:15]: Kikongo for beginners
Friday [17:30 - 19:30]: Swahili for beginners

DUTCH

Every tuesday, wednesday and thursday morning (9h - 12h30) there are Dutch lessons in Kuumba. We do this in cooperation with CVO Brussels and the House of Dutch.

DANCE

These classes take place every Thursday from 6.30pm to 8pm (except during the Christmas holidays and the annual summer closure). The price is 15 euros per class.

Workshops

 

For groups looking for activities we have a whole range of workshops: 

  • Dance: this dance class is a workout with dance from Central Africa. This workshop is given by Joseph Saidi Simako. Highly recommended for school groups, groups of adults, in other words: both young & old!
  • Percussion: this interactive and rhythmic workshop for young & old is an ideal relaxation and introduction to African tradtional music.
  • Board games: get to know the traditional community games from all over the African continent. This workshop creates fun moments and group feeling. Come with your family, colleagues & friends to play fun games.
  • iniation language lessons: a fun way to get to know an African language. Kuumba offers Swahili and Lingala, two widely spoken languages in Sub-Saharan Africa.
     
  • Decolonisation at Africa Museum: Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, the AfricaMuseum and Flemish-African House Kuumba are joining forces for an educational package on Belgian-Congolese colonial history for students (3rd grade secondary school). At the AfricaMuseum, you can attend the workshop Colonization: Belgium-Congo, which explores the colonization of Congo. How to register?

Expositions

Lovers of creativity who wish to exhibit their creative works can contact us so long as these have something to do with Africa, whether directly or indirectly. Exhibition space is therefore available for them and Kuumba take cares of communication, the setting and the opening.

- 17.5€/pp: chicken moambe, banane plantin, rice, vegtables and beans

- 25€/pp: all of the above + fish and meat
